Senior Consultant Lawrence Butler Authors Publication on Strategic Planning
Bedford, MA - June 16, 2006 - Larry Butler's latest publication, The Board's Role in Strategic Planning, was recently released by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges in its popular Board Basics series. He describes eight important roles for the board in assuring that a college or university's strategic planning effort fulfills its potential in "creating a desired institutional future" and, as importantly, imbedding strategic thinking in the life of the organization at all levels. Toward that end, Larry presents Maguire Associate's 3-phased, cyclical approach to Strategic Thinking and Planning that can serve as a particularly effective framework for carrying out this all-important institutional work. Informed by over thirty years of strategic planning consulting and facilitation in a broad array of institutions, Larry includes a number of helpful tips for avoiding the most common pitfalls. This is his second Board Basic for AGB. He also authored A Guide to Board Information Systems.
