Don brings over thirty years of experience conceptualizing, developing, and implementing comprehensive academic support programs aimed at student satisfaction and retention. Don is proficient in fostering collaborations between diverse sectors of university communities which is essential to student satisfaction and success. Beyond his expertise in developing retention strategies, Don is adept in developing pipeline programs aimed at placing elementary, middle, and high school students on a path toward STEM and other careers. Don is especially proud of two honors that he has received from Boston College. Since 2006, the College has presented the Dr. Donald Brown Award to “an outstanding senior who throughout their career has made extraordinary contributions to the Boston College community in ways that have benefited African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American (AHANA) students in areas of leadership, service and academic development.” Further, in 2012, one of Boston College’s preeminent student organizations decided to name its annual luncheon in Don’s honor. Don has a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master of education and a bachelor of arts from Springfield College.
