Advancement/Alumni Engagement

In 2000-2001, Colby College sought market research to inform the strategic planning process being guided by its new President. Maguire Associates studied Colby’s prospective students and their parents and surveyed close to 2,200 members of its alumni body.

Among other outcomes, the data collected helped guide the development of a long-range strategic plan. As a follow-up to information uncovered in the research, we conducted focus groups in 2003 with alumni to delve into opinions on the annual appeal process, and with prospective students to assess recruitment publications. Feedback from participants led to adaptations in direct-mail pieces and has influenced the design of admissions print material.
